Perfect Spring Day Wedding Photos at the Wheeler House

If you’re looking for photos of the Wheeler House, you’ve come to the right place!

Full of southern charm, it’s one of North Georgia’s top rated premiere wedding venues!

Getting Ready Spaces

The Wheeler House provides elegant bridal suites and dressing rooms for you and your wedding party! The bridal suite is adorned with wicker furnishings and charming southern style decor, including a large clawfoot tub that adds a nice flourish of historic charm

Your groom and groomsmen can enjoy their own climate-controlled suite in the barn, complete with a television and ample space for changing and storing all their personal items.

Additionally, guests can also enjoy a billiards room inside the house during their time at the venue. It also makes for a great photo op!

The History of the Wheeler House Venue

The Wheeler House Wedding Venue has a rich history that adds to its allure as one of the top North Georgia wedding venues. Originally constructed in 1906 (by the owner of The Wheeler lumber yard), this incredible venue was built using the best lumber available. Its entire 6,000 square feet of flooring, walls, ceilings, and two-story wrap-around porches feature heart pine tongue and groove.

In February of 2010, The Wheeler House underwent an extensive renovation when it was purchased by Lee Lusk from Canton, Georgia. After more than a century since its initial construction, the venue was carefully restored, renovated, and upgraded to all its former glory. From the foundation to its roof, every aspect of the venue was meticulously repaired and refurbished to pristine condition!

In 2011, The Wheeler House Wedding Venue and Events Facility proudly opened its doors to host its first wedding, marking a new chapter in its history!

Now being restored to its former glory, The Wheeler House has become one of the most sought-after wedding venues in North Georgia, enchanting couples with its timeless southern charm and rich heritage.

History of the Barn

As a beautiful addition to The Wheeler House wedding venue, the barn was designed and built in 2012 by its owner Lee Lusk.

Serving as a reception site and an optional ceremony space for couples who prefer an indoor option, the barn offers a climate-controlled environment that can accommodate weddings all year-round. Whether you’re planning the perfect wedding for spring, summer, fall, or winter, the Wheeler House can accomodate any season!

The barn features a spacious dance floor that can be customized based on your floor plan, with guidance from the Wheeler House’s in-house wedding coordinators.

The barn was specifically planned and designed to complement the historic home and the majestic oak trees that surround it.

To maintain the Wheeler House’s commitment to sustainability and preservation, reclaimed lumber was used extensively in the barn’s construction.

As the reclaimed wood ages and weathers, the exterior siding of the barn will naturally start to grey, adding to its beauty and distinctive look over time.

The barn at The Wheeler House stands as a testament to its commitment to preserving history and sustainability while providing a stunning and functional venue space for weddings and events.

Industrial Wedding Photos at the Athens Cotton Press

Industrial Wedding Photos at the Athens Cotton Press

We started off the day with getting ready portraits at a nearby hotel with the groom & groomsmen. After that, we head over the wedding venue for the day – the Athens Cotton Press!

This venue has a super cool & industrial warehouse space!

Once we arrived, we began taking portraits with the bride & her 12 bridesmaids – followed by some solo bridal portraits.

Reception Decor at the Athens Cotton Press

After portraits concluded, we had some time to focus on all the finished wedding reception decor! As a dimly lit warehouse space, we had to add in additional lighting to get the best images!

We loved the hanging lanterns and hanging florals! The string lights also added a warm touch to this industrial wedding venue.

A Wedding Ceremony at the Athens Cotton Press

Because Athens Cotton Press is a dimly lit warehouse space, it is CRUCIAL to photograph with camera equipment that can handle the low light levels!

We loved the symmetry in this ceremony space!

Bridal Party Photos Outside of Athens Cotton Press

Once the ceremony concluded, we took family portraits by the altar, and then head outside for some fun bridal party photos!

Bride and Groom Photos Outside Athens Cotton Press

At golden hour, we got to photograph some incredible portraits with our bride and groom! The silos in the photos below held up the super industrial vibe of this wedding!

Athens Cotton Press Reception Photos

Shortly after the sun set, the bride and groom were introduced inside! We loved how this gorgeous industrial warehouse space was lit up at night! We added in additional lighting when necessary to light our bride and groom and their guests for their reception photos!

Getting Ready at the Loews Hotel

We started the day at the Loews Hotel in Midtown, Atlanta! If you don’t know, the Loews has wonderful city skyline views all around!

Once the groom & groomsmen were dressed, we headed over to the conference level to get some awesome group portraits!

On this particular day, it was relatively cold & bleak outside, so we opted to not use the outdoor terrace space at the Loews.

After we wrapped up portraits with the groomsmen, we head over to the girls’ getting ready suite! The bride gifted her bridesmaids with matching robes – we wanted to make sure we got some fun portraits with them!

After the bride was dressed, we head down to the Conference Level with the bride & bridesmaids for even more awesome group portraits.

Wedding Decor at the Foundry at Puritan Mill

After we left the Loews, we head over to the Foundry at Puritan Mill for the ceremony! Once we arrived, we had a few minutes before ceremony started to start capturing some of the gorgeous detail photos.

A Ceremony at the Foundry at Puritan Mill

There ceremony happened in the center of the venue with either side partitioned off for the reception events later in the evening.

There were soft white/ sheer curtains draped all around – absolutely perfect for the beautiful natural lighting coming in!

Night Time Photos Outside the Foundry

After the ceremony & family portraits concluded, we photographed portraits with the bride & groom outside! At this point in the evening, the sun had already started to set. Because we were constantly losing light during this time, we introduced additional lighting. The end result is super dramatic & moody photos!

Reception Decor at the Foundry

Once we wrapped up with the couple’s creative portraits, we had some time alone with the reception space before the guests entered! This warehouse had gorgeous pin lights everywhere, creating a softly lit, romantic space for the reception events to unfold. Because it was dimly lit, we added in additional light when necessary to create the best possible images!

An Evening Reception at the Foundry at Puritan Mill

The bride & groom entered and the reception began with an incredible first dance!

We added in additional lighting here as well to appropriately light our couples and their guests on the dance floor!

Gorgeous Interracial Wedding at a Historic Venue in Atlanta

Gorgeous Interracial Wedding at a Historic Venue in Atlanta

Our wonderful, lovely couple opted to start their wedding day at their gorgeous historic venue (Callanwolde Fine Arts Center) with their first look!

They planned a small and intimate wedding day without a bridal party & opted to to start their day with a first look soon followed by their Couples Creative Portraits.

The First Look at the Grand Staircase

Their first look took place on the iconic grand staircase. We absolutely love the deep rich red carpeting & historic window designs (I would say stained glass – but I don’t believe it’s stained!). After their first look, we proceeded to move around the venue for more portraits.

Callanwolde is such a cool venue with so much history in every corner of the building – it’s a gorgeous place for photos everywhere you look – both inside and outside!

We started with indoor portraits and then moved to the outdoors spaces in front of the venue.

Family Portraits Outside Callanwolde

Once we wrapped up our Creative Couples Portrait time, the family joined us for some quick family portraits just outside the maid doors.

After family portraits, it was time to get ready for the ceremony!

Prior to the ceremony starting, we like to wrap up Couple & Family Portraits early to give us some time in the ceremony & reception spaces to capture details & decor before the majority of the guests arrive.

Hindu Wedding Ceremony

Below are a couple of highlights from this multi cultural Indian wedding ceremony.

A Second First Look

After ceremony, our couple changed into their second set of outfits. As a multi-cultural/ biracial/ interracial wedding, they wanted to do a first look again!

These moments were so precious!

Cake Cut in front of the Grand Staircase

After the first look at the top of the stairs, we went to the bottom of the grand staircase for their cake cutting!

Once the cake cutting was completed, we moved into the ballroom for the reception events!

Historic Ballroom Reception

As the intimate reception was coming to a close, the couple opted to take a few more night time portraits before leaving for the evening.

The Westin Atlanta Perimeter North Wedding Photos

The Westin Atlanta Perimeter North Wedding Photos

We are still over the moon about Nadia & Fayaz’s fairytale – the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North wedding photos!

Filled with Afghan wedding traditions, plenty of Afghan wedding dances, and so much love, this wedding was one for the books!

Love, love, LOVED the gorgeous, modern chandeliers at this Westin Perimeter’s ballroom, the purple and yellow wedding uplighting, the silver chiavari chairs, the elegant tall centerpieces with flowers/ florals everywhere, and the floating candle tablescapes! Everything was simply magical.

Below are a couple of highlight photos & pictures from the day – including portraits with the bride and groom, portraits with the couple and their bridal party, the ballroom at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North, beautiful wedding decor, multi-tiered wedding cake, the bride & groom in their SECOND set of outfits, and some solo portraits of the bride!
