Rhodes Hall photos look like something out of a fairy tale. Known as “The Castle on Peachtree,” Rhodes Hall is a 1904 stone mansion on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, with turrets, battlements and a grand staircase lit by stained glass. It’s a stunning backdrop for weddings, proposals, engagement photos and portraits.
Below you will find Rhodes Hall photos from a proposal session, a look at the history behind the building, and what couples should know about planning a Rhodes Hall wedding or photo session.
The History of Rhodes Hall
Rhodes Hall was built in 1904 for Amos Giles Rhodes, a furniture businessman and one of Atlanta’s wealthiest citizens, and designed by architect Willis F. Denny II, per the National Park Service. It is considered Georgia’s best example of Romanesque Revival architecture, and its towers and turrets are built from granite quarried at Stone Mountain.
Inside, a carved mahogany staircase rises beneath a series of stained and painted glass windows, surrounded by ornate woodwork, parquet floors and mosaics. Today the house is a museum and the headquarters of the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.
