As an Atlanta family photographer, our team plans every session around the people in front of the camera: the best light for your location, a pace that works for little ones and gentle, guided posing that keeps everyone relaxed. The result is a collection of family portraits that look polished and still feel like you, with real laughter, a few hugs and plenty of photos you’ll want on your walls.
We photograph families of every shape and size across Metro Atlanta, including young families, new babies, grandparents, multi-generational gatherings and family reunions, in parks and gardens, natural light studios, private venues and at home. Where We Photograph
Outdoors, in the Studio or at Home
Spring and fall are the most popular seasons for outdoor family photos in Atlanta, with blooming gardens, colorful leaves and comfortable temperatures. Winter can work too, especially on a mild day in an urban setting where bare trees and brown grass aren’t the focus. Parks, gardens and historic squares give your session room to explore, and we’re happy to recommend locations that fit your family’s style, like Vines Park in Loganville or the Marietta Square.
Atlanta summers are hot and humid, so for summer sessions we usually recommend an indoor location instead, such as White Wall Studio in Woodstock or the farmhouse at Prospect Farms. Indoor sessions also take the weather out of the equation for families with tight schedules. Family and Newborn Photos at Home
Some of the most meaningful family photos happen right at home: reading on the couch, cooking together in the kitchen, or piling onto your bed on a lazy morning. In-home sessions capture your family in the rooms where your life happens, and these photos only become more meaningful with time, especially if you move someday.
Home sessions are relaxed by design. Kids feel at ease in their own space, nobody has to worry about the weather, and the personal touches around you make every image one of a kind. They’re also our favorite way to photograph newborns and new babies: instead of props and backdrops, we focus on you holding, feeding and snuggling your little one, and your baby can eat, nap and be held whenever they need to. We also love photographing milestones like first birthdays and family gatherings with grandparents.

Every family session follows the same simple process: reserve your date, enjoy your session, then see your finished photos before you choose anything.
Reserve Your Date
A $300 session retainer reserves your date and covers your planning call, your guided session and the editing of your photos.
See Your Photos First
Your fully edited photos are revealed at a relaxed Ordering Appointment that you schedule. Most families see their photos within a couple of weeks, and often sooner.
You Choose What to Buy
Pick a handful of favorites or take home the full gallery. Most families invest around $1,000, and you’re always the one who decides.
Weekday sessions, Monday through Thursday, have no minimum purchase. Weekend dates are limited and reserve with a minimum pre-purchase that goes toward your order.

Meet Your Atlanta Family Photographer Team
We’re Jaimie and Kyle, the husband-and-wife team behind Jaimie Dee Photography, together with a small group of associate photographers we trust. Jaimie founded the studio in 2008, and we’ve photographed families, weddings and portraits across Metro Atlanta ever since.
Our style blends classic, polished portraits with candid moments and true-to-life editing. We love sessions that move at your family’s pace, with time for the in-between moments that end up being favorites.
As an Atlanta family photographer team, we photograph sessions throughout the metro area and nearby towns, including Marietta, Decatur, Roswell, Alpharetta and Kennesaw. We’re happy to travel farther, and a travel fee applies outside our usual area.

How much does a family photographer cost in Atlanta?
The cost of an Atlanta family photographer varies widely from studio to studio. Our family sessions start with a $300 session retainer, which reserves your date and covers planning, your guided session and editing. You’ll see your finished photos at your Ordering Appointment and choose what you’d like to purchase, from a few favorites to the full gallery. How long is a family photo session?
Most family sessions run between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of your family, the number of locations and whether you’d like an outfit change. Family photos almost always take a little longer than people expect, since little ones need breaks and larger groups take time to arrange, so we’ll help you choose a session length that never feels rushed.
Is 30 minutes enough for family photos?
For a small family at one location, 30 minutes is often plenty for a variety of group photos, smaller groupings and a few candid moments. If you’re bringing grandparents, several kids, a pet or an outfit change, plan on more time so nobody feels hurried.
What is the best time of day for family photos?
For outdoor sessions, the softest and most flattering light is usually in the hour or two before sunset, or shortly after sunrise. Midday sun is the hardest light to work with. The official sunset time assumes a flat, open horizon. In a city park or near tall buildings, the sun slips behind the tree line or the skyline earlier, often 20 to 45 minutes before the listed time, so we plan to finish outdoor portraits about 30 minutes before the official sunset. For families with young children, we also plan around naps and mealtimes.
Where should we take family photos in Atlanta?
It depends on the look you love and the season. Parks, gardens and historic squares are favorites in spring and fall, while natural light studios and your own home work beautifully year-round. What should we wear for family photos?
Choose a color palette rather than matching outfits, mix in a few textures and patterns, and make sure everyone is comfortable. What if our kids won’t cooperate?
That’s completely normal, and we plan for it. We use games, prompts and short breaks to keep kids engaged, and we never expect perfect behavior. A meltdown is part of your family’s story too, and some of our favorite photos come from the moments right after one.
What happens if it rains on the day of our session?
Outdoor sessions work best when your schedule has a little flexibility. We watch the forecast and follow our inclement weather policy. If you’d rather not think about the weather at all, an indoor or in-home session is a great choice.
When will we see our family photos?
You’ll see your fully edited photos for the first time at your Ordering Appointment, which you schedule at a time that works for you. Most families see their photos within a couple of weeks, and depending on our schedule it can be much sooner. When paid in full, digital files are typically delivered within 24 hours of your order.
Can we bring our dog to our family session?
Yes, pets are welcome at outdoor sessions, and we love including them. Some indoor locations don’t allow pets, so let us know when you book and we’ll help you choose a pet-friendly spot. Our list of pet-friendly locations for family photos near Atlanta is a good place to start.
