We started the day out getting ready at the Emory Conference center. With 8 brides maids and 8 groomsmen, you can imagine we started off the party early! After getting dressed, we traveled over to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the ceremony. Followed by family and bridal party pictures, we left the ceremony site to prepare for the reception back at the Emory Conference Center.

The Southern Exchange Ballrooms at 200 Peachtree St. NW have a rich history, originating as the Davison & Douglas department store in 1891. Over the years, the building transformed and flourished amidst Atlanta’s evolving business scene and railroads’ influence. It eventually became Davison-Paxon-Stokes, purchased by R.H. Macy in 1927. The redesign of the store was inspired by Macy’s Herald Square flagship store and was helmed by renowned Atlanta architect Philip Shutze. After leaving The Tisinger House for the getting ready and first look during the first part of the day with Courtney & Grant, we then progressed to the Barn at Buffalo Creek Carrollton GA for the ceremony & reception. As Atlanta wedding photographers, we LOVE it when we have an opportunity to venture outside the city. Carrollton has some gorgeous wedding venues, and the Barn at Buffalo Creek was no exception! The night of our first kiss I just knew. 6 years later, here we are.
Grant totally surprised me!! We are avid waterfall junkies. We travel all over to explore and hike waterfalls (and jump them!). The 4th of July weekend, his mom, my mom, sister, and friend traveled to Nashville to celebrate the holiday weekend. The plan was to take the whole family to jump our favorite waterfall. But before we jump, he was going to propose. The weekend turned into a flood!! It rained the entire weekend!! We drove to the waterfall and of course it was muddy rapids. You couldn’t even see the falls. Plan B: travel to a second waterfall. We arrived and hiked. Rapids there too. Muddy, smelly, and anything but romantic. Back home to get ready to shop Broadway and be tourists with the family. All this time, grant has my ring in his pocket!! Plan C: walk down Broadway, shop around, and then he gets down on one knee in the middle of Broadway. It was awesome. Two stories of open bars cheering for us. Definitely a moment to remember.

Such a gorgeous day, we couldn’t have asked for better weather – Atlanta wedding photography at it’s best. How did the two of you meet? What were your first impressions? Was it love at first sight?
Grant and I were partnered together in a doubles tennis tournament. First impressions were his hilarious grunt (which is his nicckname) and competitiveness. Love at first sight for sure.

Grant is one of a kind. He is so lovable, quite sensitive, and a fixer. Whether it be something physical or a life problem, he puts his 100% into helping fix things and make it right. His drive and determination blow me away every time. I told him that I loved him the summer of 2011 while night swimming. One of our fondest memories. His mom was actually my high school teacher and second mother before I even knew him!! There were no nerves! It was meant to be!
