Best Locations for Magical Engagement Photos in Atlanta
HOW TO BRAINSTORM LOCATION IDEAS
Wondering where the Best Places to Take Engagement Photos in Atlanta are? Look no further! It is time to choose a location for your engagement session!
While not an exhaustive list of every single photo session location in the Atlanta area, we’ve put together this little resource guide that shows you how to select that perfect photo shoot location that speaks to you and your fiance as a couple! Excited? Read on!
SOME QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF
Rather than just supplying with you a list of locations (we’ll still give you a couple at the end of the article), we believe the perfect location for each couple should have some sentimental reason or purpose for being chosen. As you’re considering the best locations for magical engagement photos in Atlanta, consider these questions below!
WHERE DID YOU DROP THE “L” WORD?
Think back to all the significant points in your relationship: your first date, first kiss, first place you ever met, and the first time you said the “L” word. Is there a park, workplace, or house that holds special meaning to you? Perhaps a bar, restaurant, or drive-in theatre you like to frequent that has lots of date night memories? The locations that these significant moments occur in make for great engagement session backdrops!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO?
What do the two of you like to do together for fun? Are you dog people? Maybe you want pictures of you and your fur babies at the dog park.
Do you like to go out dancing together? How about a stylized shoot of the two of you tearing it up?
Do you like Hiking? Sky Diving? Cinema? Cooking? Are you fans of your local college football team? How about an engagement session at a sporting event?
Do you love the city? How about a romantic engagement session with the city skyline in the background? Whatever activities define you as a couple can help you select the perfect location for your engagement session! You can see some of our previous clients engagement session locations here.
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?
And the last question – What date idea have you been talking about for years, but have yet to do? Visit a pretty vineyard in the north georgia mountains? Go to a local brewery? Maybe you have been meaning to plan a beach trip, or cabin trip. If it’s a place you’ve been wanting to experience, it’s a place to consider for your engagement sessions.
NARROW IT DOWN – SOME ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS TO ASK
Got a couple ideas swimming around? Awesome! Let’s help you narrow them down. Here are five additional questions to consider to help slim down your list.
ARE YOU ALLOWED TO PHOTOGRAPH THERE?
If you are planning to have your engagement session done on any property you do not own, do you have permission from the property owner to shoot there? Don’t know? Find out first! Aside from privately owned establishments, some cities and towns also require permits to shoot in public locations. The last thing you want during your romantic engagement session is to be stopped in the middle of the shoot and asked to leave the property – or worse – written a ticket or fined. It’s always best to call ahead to get permission first.
ARE THERE ANY ASSOCIATED FEES?
Does your preferred location require photography permits, paid parking, admission tickets, or other obligatory photography related fees? These are all fees photography clients are expected to cover in addition to the cost of an actual engagement session when hiring a professional photographer.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Have a backup plan! If you are planning for an outdoor engagement session, it’s a good idea to have a plan B location lined up in case of inclement weather. Not only will you be able to escape the rain (or high humidity!) and continue your photo shoot, but you will also have more variety in your photos.
WHAT IF IT’S CROWDED?
We advise our clients to schedule their engagement sessions during times of day that see the least crowds. Depending on the location, this typically means during the middle of the work week. While it’s true – an experienced engagement photographer can shoot in any situation, not every newly engaged couple will feel comfortable posing in front of crowds of random strangers. You can see some of our previous engagement session (some crowded and some not as much) here!
WHAT COLORS DO YOU DISPLAY IN YOUR HOME?
Ok, one last thought to help narrow down your list. Do you have a particular color palate you like to decorate with? We advise our clients to choose a location that incorporates those colors. This ensures you’re most likely to create images that will fit in with your home decor.
If you love blues and whites, maybe a beach, pool, or field with lots of sky is all you need! Do you like green and beige? Try the woods, a farm, a rock quarry, or museum.
CONCLUSION
Once you have identified the top three places where you would like to do your engagement session, talk to your photographer. They may have some valuable insight which can help you pick your spot. Follow these tips, and your engagement session will be one to remember!
