As an Atlanta wedding photography studio, we love it when we get the opportunity to photograph locations that truly represent Atlanta! We had such a blast capturing these Piedmont Park engagement photos with Meredith & Greg. I cannot say enough good things about what a positive vibe these two radiated throughout their engagement session. It was such a pleasure to work with this amazing couple. Below is a quick interview with the Most Fun Loving Couple of 2016, Meredith & Greg!
How did you meet?
Bride: We were set up by a mutual friend at his birthday party. I thought he was adorable and super handsome. I was a bit weary because he was wearing a “Keep Calm and Chive On” T-shirt. We chatted briefly and there was definitely an attraction.
Groom: My good friend’s fiance introduced us. We had met and then went on a double date to Hudson Grille. She obviously was very attractive and had a demeanor that was fun. Her jokes and playful spirit had me laughing all night. There certainly were sparks flying after our first date.
How/ when did you start dating? What attracted you most to each other?
Bride: Looks for sure, we went on a few double dates in the following weeks but our first solo date was at Sweetwater Brewery. I was super nervous!!!
Groom: She, of course, is beautiful and I certainly recognized that at first sight. But for me, her personality is what drew me in. Her ability to have fun in any situation and quick wit are very attractive. We started dating shortly after being introduced. Was I nervous? Absolutely. She is a gorgeous, funny and intelligent woman. Who wouldn’t be?
Tell me about your relationship. Were you nervous about one another meeting your family? Who said I love you first?
Bride: He is my biggest support system, no questions asked. He knows everything about everything and makes me a better person every single day. He also makes me laugh every single day. He holds me accountable and pushes me to use logic and keeps me calm during times of stress. I wasn’t nervous for him to meet my family, I knew they would love him just as much as I do. We disagree on who said it first, but I will back down, he said I love you first. I was beyond thrilled to hear it.
Groom: It’s hard to put in to words exactly what makes Meredith different. When I’m with her, nothing else matters. I constantly find myself smiling or laughing, sometimes for no apparent reason. We have fun together regardless of what we are doing, and I couldn’t imagine life without her. I was not nervous about her meeting my family, however I was nervous to meet her parents. As all parents do, they quite clearly love their daughter very much, and it was important for me to show them that I cherish her just as much as they do. I said I love you first after she came home from an out of town trip. After the words were said, I felt so good and it was just the beginning of our story.
When did you know this person was the one?
Bride: I knew he was the one when we were driving to Jacksonville to visit his best friend and I found Mickey Avalon on his ipod. It was a slow realization, but I feel like it was something that I knew for a very long time, since the day I met him. It’s overwhelmingly terrifying and wonderful when you realize that you don’t want to live your life the same way ever again. He was a game changer.
Groom: I’m not sure that it was one single event, but a collection of all times spent together that led me to know that she was the one. It seemed every day was amazing and my love got stronger. However once it had built up, it hit me like a freight train. I knew she was the one I wanted to start a family with and I felt like a million bucks.
How did the engagement happen? Did everything go as planned?
Bride: Engagement happened July 9th at Piedmont Park. As far as I know, everything went as planned. First person I told was my mom, but she already knew. I had no idea it was coming that day, there had been many times before that I thought, this is it, and it wasn’t. As soon as he grabbed my hand I knew what was happening and I kept saying “Oh my God, Oh my God, It’s happening, it’s happening” and tried to keep myself from collapsing.
Groom: Engagement happened as described, Piedmont Park. I arranged for us and some friends to “walk the dogs” in the park, and then I would propose at a predetermined spot by one of the lakes, and our friends would photograph it. I also arranged for our friends and family that lived in Atlanta to meet us at Park Tavern for a surprise brunch. Everything went as planned with no hiccups, but it couldn’t have been done without the help of friends and family. There was extreme nervousness leading up to asking, which intensified as we got closer to the “spot” I was going to ask her. I’m not sure whether or not she had an idea it was coming, but she seems genuinely surprised. However, she had been terrorizing me for a few months about it prior to.
Last Questions! What’s the one thing about each other you couldn’t live without?
Rainy Day Engagement Photos at a Park in Atlanta, GA
Despite crazy Georgia weather, Shannon & Alex braved the rainy storms to take their Piedmont Park Engagement Photos. That’s our type of client! As Atlanta wedding photographers, we LOVE working with adventurous couples that are down to shoot regardless of wind, rain, tornados, (jk!). We could not have asked for better clients to work with. Below are a couple of highlights from Shannon & Alex’s engagement session as well as a quick interview with the bride and groom to be.
Was it love at first sight? No
How did the two of you meet? We met at Dixon Hughes Goodman, our work. Shannon was Alex’s supervisor. She was instructed in her semi-annual review meeting to forge a strong relationship with an associate. Being the overachiever that she is, she succeeded… and some.
What was the first thing you remember about that moment? Alex was thinking “Man, I hope I don’t screw up these basis calculations.” Shannon was thinking “Can I forge a strong relationship with this associate?”
What attracted you most to one another? Shannon loved Alex’s sense of humor and bulging biceps. Alex always felt very at ease with Shannon. She was also the most thoughtful person he had ever met.
What made this person different from anyone else you’d encountered? For Alex, it was the instant friendship. You would have thought that we had been friends for years. Shannon felt that Alex was very easy to talk to and open up to. Alex was very intrigued by Shannon, so he acted like she was the coolest thing ever.
Where was your first date, and how long did it take you to get ready? Our first date was supposed to be the Nickel Creek concert. However, after an hour of waiting for tickets, we decided to ditch the concert and go for the classic dinner and a movie. We went to Copeland’s Cheesecake Factory and saw The Other Woman in theatres. It took Alex not long to get ready because it was after work. It took Shannon 28 years…
Who was the first person you told about your fiancé after your first date? Alex told all of his co-workers… just kidding. We both told our moms.
Who said “I love you” first? Technically it was Shannon, but Alex very romantically said, “I think I love you” first.
How did you feel the first time these words were said? We could both feel the love that existed so we both could tell the words were coming soon. We were both very excited, though. We both felt very comfortable and happy.
When did you each know that the other was the one? For Shannon, it was the second date when Alex met Shannon’s ferocious dogs, who for some reason were instantly comfortable around him. For Alex, it was on our third date when we went to see The Amazing Spiderman and Shannon met Alex’s best friend.
How did you feel after you had that “this is it” moment? Both us were scared.
Were you nervous about one another meeting your family? Nope.
Who does your partner remind you most of? I don’t think either of us remind us of anyone.
What’s the one thing about one another you couldn’t live without? For Alex, the hug that he gets everyday when he gets home from work. For Shannon, the exact same thing 🙂
Engagement photos done at Piedmont Park are particularly beautiful when photographed during sunset. Every Atlanta wedding photographer can agree sunrise & sunset are perhaps the most magical times of day to shoot. These two are avid Atlanta Braves fans. They did an excellent job incorporating their love of baseball into their engagement session. Piedmont Park, based in Atlanta, Georgia was an excellent location choice for their engagement photos.
Ariel & Toushard chose to take their engagement photos at Piedmont Park. When capturing great Atlanta wedding photography, one must focus on selecting the perfect venue that showcases Atlanta in all her glory.
It’s so wonderful to photograph weddings. It’s even more wonderful to photograph weddings when it involves people you know! I was incredibly excited the day Becky & Chris asked me to be their wedding photographer. The following are their engagement photos taken at Piedmont Park in the heart of Atlanta, GA. I couldn’t have asked for a more fun couple to work with – these two knew how to work with the camera and had a great time doing it. I’m giddy with anticipation for the day their wedding arrives!
How did you meet your fiancé? Becky: We met online and his first message to me was, “Beauty and Brains, Cant pass this up”. Chris and I met at Andretti’s which was our first date. Chris had to work late that day so we ended up not meeting until 8 I think. We planned to go to the go carts but when we got there they were sold out so we went to play the games on the floor and won a huge stuffed zebra. Chris asked if I wanted to go to the comedy show that is at Andretti’s which was so funny. After the comedy show we left and we had our first kiss that night.
What was the first thing you remember about that moment? Becky: I remember walking down to the entrance to Andretti’s and seeing him at the front door and I just had a great feeling that the night was going to be a lot of fun.
Chris: The first thing I remember is that she was wearing a perfume that smelled quite well.
What attracted you most to your fiancé?
Becky: I am attracted to him for the love he has for his family and life. He makes me laugh so much and is always there for me. Although we have been through some things in the past year, Chris wont let life beat him down. He isn’t the kind of guy that lets someone or something get him down. He has such a positive outlook on life.
Chris: I was attracted to the beauty and the brains of Rebecca.
What made your fiance different from the rest?
Becky: Chris doesn’t let anything in life get him down, he understands me and loves me for me. He doesn’t change his personality when he goes around different people and he is true to himself, his family, friends, and me.
Chris: Her conviction to her values were unlike anyone I had met previously, I love that about her.
Who was the first person you told about your fiancé after your first date?
Becky: I went and talked with my sister. The date lasted past midnight so when I got home, she was kinda worried but she knew that the date went good because I was so late getting home.
Chris: First people I told were friends at work the next day.
When did you know he was the one?
Becky: I knew he was the one when I went on a cruise with my sister and I had no way to contact him. It was awful, there were so many things that I saw that I wanted to tell him but couldn’t because we didn’t have cell service. As soon as we docked back in Charleston, he was the first person that I called. I couldn’t wait to get back to him and be in his arms.
Chris: I knew she was the one when I went on vacation for a week and missed her so much I wanted to go home early.
How did you feel after you had that “this is it” moment?
Becky: If this is pertaining to when he proposed, I started to cry and couldn’t believe that my dream was coming true.
Who said “I love you” first?
Becky: I did. I actually used to write I love you on his back when I would give him massages but I didn’t say ‘I love you’ until one night that we were together. I couldn’t go on without saying it to him. I love him so much and don’t know what I would do without him.
Chris: She said it first. I said it immediately after.
How did you feel the first time your fiancé told you he loved you?
Becky: GREAT!!!!! He said it right after I told him that I loved him.
Chris: Makes me smile every time I think about it.
Were you nervous about him meeting your family?
Becky: Not at all. I knew my family would love him.
Chris: I was nervous about her meeting my family because we are all loony tunes.
Who does he remind you most of?
Becky: Chris reminds me of my dad. Growing up, my dad set the bar so high for what a husband and a father figure should be and I wanted for myself. Chris is everything I want in a man and more.
What’s the one thing about your partner you couldn’t live without?
Becky: His personality and love. When I am upset, he knows exactly how to make me laugh and forget about anything was wrong in the first place.
Chris: Couldn’t live without our conversations, if people listen in they probably think we’re a bit nuts!
Was it love at first sight?
Becky: Yes. When we were having so much fun our first night and was able to talk for so long and get lost in time, I knew that he was different and I already had a sense of love for him.
Chris: Yes, she definitely fell in love with me at first sight!
