Out of all the places in Atlanta for engagement photos, Pidemont Park is definitely one of our favorites. It is a prime spot for many city park events as well as a romantic date spot for many. Piedmont Park lies in a 189 acre land in Atlanta, Georgia. It is an urban park located between the Virginia highland neighborhoods and the midtown and about a mile northeast of downtown. The original owner of the land was Benjamin Walker and it was used as an out-of- town gentlemen residence farm. It was later sold to the gentlemen driving club in 1887 just before it was renamed to Piedmont gentlemen club. The club later agreed with the Piedmont exposition company to have the land used for expositions and fairs, before it was finally named as the Piedmont Park.
A stroll in the park or a jog is always a revitalizing and entertaining activity. Nevertheless, the large stretch of Piedmont Park with the many water fountains and benches is a perfect location for taking your engagement photos. This photogenic park is one of Atlanta’s most photographed spots. In addition to its numerous picnic spots, you will also find pavilions and brick stands which provide exceptional photography spots for your engagement photo shoot.
City Skyline Views
The park provides an ideal spot for taking engagement photos in Atlanta for a number of reasons.
It is located centrally and it’s connected to the Belt line East side trail. Along its borders, there is a wide array of fun bars, cafes, restaurants and bike shops to check out. Pair some fun site-seeing or a cool dining experience with your engagement session while you’re in the city for a truly amazing experience to remember!
Where to Park at Piedmont Park?
While there is a huge parking garage with several dedicated levels attached to Piedmont Park (and shared with the Atlanta Botanical Gardens – 1320 Monroe Drive, Atlanta, GA 30306), there are also several smaller lots right next to/ on the park. One of our favorite lots is right next to Park Tavern. If you have trouble parking at the any of the lots nearby, there are also plenty of opportunities for street parking all around as well.
Photo Opportunities
Piedmont park engagement photos can be taken in one of the wide array of picnic shelters, numerous picnic tables and benches throughout the park. There is a lake (Clara Meer) located at the south east part of the park, with a bridge interlinking the two bodies of water and three fishing piers located around the lake. This also provides an ideal spot for taking beautiful engagement photos.
The park is gorgeous with a perfect view of the city skyline from multiple vantage points within. Your Piedmont Park engagement photos will not only be gorgeous, but also stunning as the park is well kept and well maintained despite the large number of visitors, festivals, and events it accommodates.
Apart from being the main park in Atlanta, Piedmont Park is also quite versatile; it has a dog park, plenty of walking trails, soccer fields, more open fields for other games or enjoyment, a garden space, a lake, a pool, and multiple event venues to host events of various sizes. It has an array of benches & picnic tables where you can just relax as you unwind or get ready for your engagement pictures.
