The Conservatory at Waterstone is a historic brick wedding venue at 4849 N. Main St. in downtown Acworth, Georgia. We have photographed several weddings at the Conservatory at Waterstone over the years, and a few of our close friends have celebrated their own weddings there too. This guide shares what we have learned: where ceremonies usually happen, how the building’s three levels come together on a wedding day, and how to plan for beautiful photos in a space full of brick, character and warm evening ambiance. For current packages, menus and availability, visit the Conservatory at Waterstone’s official website.
About the Conservatory at Waterstone
The venue describes its style as a mix of modern loft and rustic French country, with exposed brick walls, high ceilings and two levels of seating. A covered balcony overlooks an outdoor garden with a seating area, and the building sits right in historic downtown Acworth. Weddings here are full service. The venue’s current package includes a day-of coordinator, catering, a wedding cake, a floral allowance and private changing rooms, and its wedding packages page has the latest pricing guides. Details change from year to year, so confirm current packages with the venue directly.
What Couples Should Know
How the Three Levels Come Together
In our experience, a wedding day at the Conservatory at Waterstone uses all three levels of the building. The lower level opens onto the outdoor garden where most ceremonies take place, and it has often been where the groom and groomsmen get ready, in a lounge area with a bar. The main level holds the spacious, open reception room and dance floor. The top level, at the front of the building, has been home to the bridal suite. Room uses can change over time, so ask the venue which spaces your wedding will include, and we will plan getting-ready photos around them.
A Wonderful Choice for Smaller Weddings and Micro Weddings
The Conservatory at Waterstone welcomes weddings of many sizes, with seating for up to 175 guests, and its pricing guide starts at 50 guests. That makes it a wonderful choice for smaller weddings, micro weddings and even elopements where you would love to have the whole venue to yourselves. With a smaller guest count, the rooms feel warm, full and lively, and an intimate celebration looks just right in photos. The venue’s current pricing guide also lists lower rates for Friday, Sunday and weeknight weddings. One of our close friends celebrated a micro wedding there on a Tuesday evening, and it was a beautiful night. If your date is flexible, ask the venue about weeknight availability.
Most ceremonies we have photographed at the Conservatory at Waterstone take place in the outdoor garden behind the building, on the lower level. Brick walkways, wooden pergolas, greenery and a flowering arch at the top of the steps frame the ceremony beautifully, and guests are seated close enough to feel part of every moment. When the weather calls for a change of plans, we have seen ceremonies move indoors to the main level reception room. Ask the venue about their rain plan when you book, and we will plan the ceremony coverage and portraits around whichever space you use.
Portrait Spots
The garden is one of our favorite places for portraits, with greenery, brick walls, the arch and the outdoor staircase. Inside, exposed brick, classic doorways and staircases with iron railings add charm and character to couple and wedding party portraits.
Capturing the Warm Indoor Ambiance
Inside, the Conservatory at Waterstone has a warm, intimate glow, with exposed brick, iron railings and romantic evening lighting that sets a cozy mood for your reception. Rooms like these photograph beautifully in the hands of a photographer who is skilled with professional lighting as well as natural light. When you compare photographers, ask to see full weddings they have photographed at evening receptions and indoor venues, and ask how they use flash and supplemental lighting. We bring professional lighting to every wedding, so your reception photos are clear and vibrant while still feeling true to the warm atmosphere of the room.
Timeline Tips
Consider a first look. Receptions here are evening events, so a first look gives you time for couple and wedding party portraits in the garden while there is still daylight.
Plan family photos in the garden. Gathering family right after the ceremony, while everyone is already outside, keeps things moving before the reception.
Save a few minutes after dark. The garden glows at night, and it makes a beautiful backdrop for a grand exit or a few evening portraits.
Reception Tips
A Question to Ask When You Hire Your DJ
The upper level adds seating that overlooks the main floor, which is especially helpful for larger guest counts. When you interview DJs, ask whether they can place an additional speaker on the upper level so guests seated upstairs can hear the toasts, first dances and announcements clearly. If your DJ can do this, it adds so much to the guest experience. We have attended weddings there as guests ourselves, and this small detail makes the evening even better for everyone upstairs.

Atlanta wedding photographers always get so excited when they get to travel outside of the city.  Below are a couple of fun images we got to take during the class as well as a couple of behind the scene shots!
Special thanks to our lovely models!
Michael Anthony ice lighting our model!
Shooting over all the other photographers’ heads in class, I actually don’t mind how this one below turned out….
William Innes showing off his bag of mirrorless camera goodies above. Â I’m so jealous.
And look at those AMAZING clouds! Â We couldn’t have asked for a better day to shoot.
William Innes resembles like Phil Dunphy from Modern Family, don’t you think???
Overall, we had a blast at Shutterfest this year. Â Can’t wait to go to Shutterfest 2016!
In honor of Flash Back Friday, we decided to throw up a post from almost a year ago! Â Our Atlanta wedding photography studio had a blast assisting KVC Photography with the wedding at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Canton GA. Â Travis & Leslie were such a cute couple to work with at probably one of the best rustic canton wedding venues around. Â Below are a couple of highlights from the day.
Rose Lawn Museum is a historic Victorian home at 224 West Cherokee Avenue in Cartersville, Georgia, and it is one of the most charming historic wedding settings in Bartow County. The house and its grounds are honored as a Historic Garden of Georgia, with over 200 heritage roses, and the museum rents the first floor, the Carriage House and the grounds for weddings and receptions. Visit the official Rose Lawn Museum weddings page for current rental details.
We have photographed a wedding at Rose Lawn Museum, and it remains one of our favorite reasons to travel beyond the city. Below you’ll find what couples should know about the venue, photo tips for the house and grounds, and a gallery of Rose Lawn Museum photos from the day.
What Couples Should Know About Rose Lawn Museum
Rose Lawn (sometimes written Roselawn) began as a small cottage built in the 1860s. It became the home of evangelist Samuel Porter Jones in the 1880s, and the house was later raised and expanded into the three-story Victorian home that stands today. Inside, the first floor has tall ceilings, wood moldings and coffered ceilings, and outside, a wide front lawn and mature trees surround the house.
According to the museum, a wedding rental at Rose Lawn Museum includes:
Use of the first floor of the museum, the Carriage House and the grounds for seven hours
Tables and chairs
Seasonal floral arrangements for your use
The museum also rents the first floor or the Carriage House by the hour for rehearsals and rehearsal dinners, and a security deposit is required for all events. Rental fees and policies can change, so confirm current details directly with the museum. Special events are scheduled by appointment, and the museum’s rentals page lists tour hours and contact information.
Because the venue is a museum, it helps to ask early about setup times, decor guidelines and where guests can gather during each part of the day. Those answers shape the timeline and help us plan photos around the house.
Photo Tips at Rose Lawn Museum
Rose Lawn Museum gives you several distinct looks within a short walk, which keeps portraits relaxed and the timeline moving.
The Victorian Porch
The porch, with its columns and painted details, is one of the best spots on the property. It offers open shade on bright days, frames the two of you with classic Victorian architecture, and works well for quiet moments before the ceremony. In spring, blooming shrubs near the porch add soft color to the foreground.
The Front Lawn and the House
The open lawn in front of the house is ideal for wider portraits that show off the full Victorian facade, its brick chimneys and the tall trees around it. It also gives your bridal party room to spread out for group photos along the stone paths near the side of the house.
The Garden Arbor Walkway
A long garden arbor walkway on the grounds creates natural leading lines and a romantic, garden feel for couple portraits. Its lattice sides filter the light, so it works well even in the middle of the day.
Inside the Museum
The first-floor rooms, with coffered ceilings, chandeliers and hardwood floors, are a beautiful backdrop for details, dessert tables and candid moments with guests. Window light in these rooms is soft and flattering for bouquets, rings and cake photos.
The Carriage House
The Carriage House has rustic brick walls, wood beams and a loft level, which give the reception a warm, textured backdrop for dinner, toasts and time with guests. Its rows of windows bring in natural light during the early part of the evening.
Planning Your Timeline at Rose Lawn Museum
Outdoor ceremonies on the lawn give guests a lovely view of the grounds, and a tent over guest seating adds shade and a backup for changing weather. For portraits, late afternoon brings softer light across the lawn, while the porch and arbor offer shade earlier in the day.
Many couples plan a first look so they can take portraits around the house before guests arrive. Our first look guide walks through how it can open up more time for family photos and cocktail hour. We’ll talk through your priorities together and build a timeline that fits the light, your ceremony time and the seven-hour rental window.
