Atlanta Micro Wedding Photography

Micro Wedding Photography for 20 to 50 Guests

Micro weddings, sometimes called intimate or small weddings, usually have about 20 to 50 guests. Some feel close to an elopement, with a ceremony and a dinner with family afterward. Others include a wedding party, toasts and a first dance. As an Atlanta micro wedding photographer, our team plans your coverage around what your day actually includes, then keeps it calm, on time and beautifully documented.

Still deciding on the size of your day? Our guide to elopements, courthouse weddings and micro weddings compares all three, and our list of small wedding venues in Atlanta is a good place to start looking.

Why Micro Weddings Are Different

What Makes Micro Wedding Photography Different

About 20 to 50 Guests

A micro wedding usually has about 20 to 50 guests, from close family to a small wedding party. Planning for 20 or fewer? See our Atlanta elopement photography.

Starting at 2 Hours

Smaller weekday micro weddings can start at 2 hours. Larger or weekend celebrations often fit our half-day coverage. See how long you need a photographer.

Meaningful Locations

Gardens, chapels, restaurants, rented homes and historic venues across Metro Atlanta. See the Atlanta wedding venues we’ve photographed.

Time for Every Guest

With a smaller guest list, there’s time for a photo with every guest and unhurried portraits of the two of you. Compare elopements and micro weddings.

Micro Wedding Coverage

Coverage That Fits Your Day

Every micro wedding is different. Some are a ceremony and a dinner with close family, and others include a wedding party, toasts and a first dance. We plan your micro wedding photography around what your day includes, so your coverage matches your plans.

Smaller weekday micro weddings (Monday through Thursday) can start with 2 hours of coverage, like our elopements. Larger or weekend celebrations are often a better fit for our half-day coverage of up to 4 hours, which includes an assistant photographer. You can add time to any collection, and couples who want more of the day covered can choose full-day coverage or something in between. Our guide to wedding timeline planning shows how we map out the day together.

Questions Couples Ask

Micro Wedding Photography FAQ

Two grooms seated together in an elegant parlor on their wedding day

How many guests is a micro wedding?

A micro wedding usually has about 20 to 50 guests. Some couples keep it simple with a ceremony and a dinner, and others add a wedding party, toasts and dancing. With up to about 20 guests, most couples call it an elopement. Our guide to courthouse weddings, elopements and micro weddings compares all three.

How many hours of photography does a micro wedding need?

It depends on what your day includes. A micro wedding that’s close to an elopement, with a ceremony and a dinner afterward, may only need 2 or 3 hours. If you’re planning a wedding party, toasts and a first dance, our half-day coverage of up to 4 hours is often a better fit. Couples who want more of the day covered can choose full-day coverage or something in between. We’ll help you choose on a quick call.

Do micro weddings have a reception?

Some do and some don’t. Many couples host a dinner at a restaurant or a small reception at their venue, and others keep it to a ceremony and cocktails. With a smaller group, a micro wedding reception tends to feel relaxed, and there’s time for toasts, dances and photos with every table.

Do you offer micro wedding photography packages?

Yes, we call them collections. Smaller weekday micro weddings book from our elopement collections, with coverage starting at 2 hours. Larger and weekend micro weddings usually book our half-day coverage or more from our wedding photography collections. Every collection includes professionally edited digital images, and at your Ordering Premiere you can add favorites, prints and albums.

Do we need a second photographer for a micro wedding?

Our half-day and full-day coverage already include an assistant photographer. For shorter coverage, one photographer handles most micro weddings well, and adding a second photographer or lighting assistant is optional. If your guest list, venue or timeline would benefit from one, we’ll let you know.

What if it rains on our wedding day?

Your ceremony happens rain or shine, so we ask couples with an outdoor ceremony to have an indoor or covered backup. Read our inclement weather policy for details. We also plan portraits around the light: in the city, the sun often slips behind trees and buildings 20 to 45 minutes before the official sunset.

How far in advance should we book?

Spring and fall dates book first, so reach out once you have a date and venue in mind. Shorter notice can work too, depending on availability. The quickest way to check your date is to schedule a call with Jaimie.
