Cator Woolford Gardens is perhaps one of the coolest places to shoot an engagement session in Atlanta, GA! We love all the luscious vegetation everywhere (which can look quite different depending on the season!). In the spring, there are tons of blooms in all different colors. The summer time provides beautiful lush greenery. The fall offers the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves! The venue itself also serves as a wedding venue on the weekends. These gardens are so beautiful, and everything is quite close together. As photographers, this allows us to create a lot of variety in our photos in a short amount of time!
The Cator Woolford Gardens is supported by the Frazer Center – It’s mission is to foster inclusion and celebrate diversity in the Atlanta community! When you donate or have an event at the Cator Woolford Gardens, all proceeds go directly to the Frazer Center! It is truly a hidden gem in the Atlanta area, and the perfect event venue for life’s special moments. It is also a spectacular venue for an engagement or portrait session!
The origins of these gardens date back to the 1920’s and was once home to Cator Woolford himself – one of the leading founders of what we know today as Equifax. These 39 acres of property are nestled in the heart of the North Druid Hills area. This oasis has remained practically untouched by today’s urban sprawl. If you’re looking for a lush event space with southern charm and an Italian style garden twist, the Cator Woolford Gardens is THE place to see!
When you make a donation or choose to host an event at these Cator Woolford Gardens, all your proceeds will support the Frazer Center! This non profit organization is located on the estate. There, people of all varying levels of disability and ability unite together to learn and grow in an inclusive community environment.
At this time there is no fee for personal photography of individuals and groups. However, they ask that you consider making a donation to the non profit organization that runs the estate – The Frazer Center. This helps to maintain the grounds as well as supports their mission to provide an environment of inclusion for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Restroom access is limited to the clients renting out the event space. Photo shoots/ engagement sessions occurring on these grounds will not have access to these restrooms.
If you’d like to explore these gardens in advance of your engagement session, there is no appointment is necessary with the Frazer Center/ Cator Woolford Gardens. However, it is recommended to check their public calendar to ensure there isn’t a private event happening on the grounds. Outside visitors are not permitted to the venue when weddings or other private events take place. The Cator Woolford Gardens are available to visit from sunrise to sunset seven days a week unless a private event is taking place.
Overall, if you are looking for a pretty amazing outdoor location for your engagement session, definitely consider the Cator Woolford Gardens! While there’s not much of an indoor backup in case of inclement weather & the lack of public restrooms make changing outfits a bit more difficult, the beautiful, lush Italian style gardens more than make up for it! You won’t be disappointed with your engagement photos if you choose this location! We would also ask that you consider making a donation to the Frazer Center if you choose to have your pictures done here.
